Introduction

This tool complements DPI’s Ratification and Implementation Toolkits and is intended for use by those wishing to promote the successful ratification, implementation and monitoring of the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD).  Specifically, it provides where relevant:

1. a timeline of major events and activities associated with the CRPD, including past and anticipated events;
2. background descriptions of events and activities;
3. checklists for those wishing to become involved; and
4. cross-references to relevant sections of the Ratification and Implementation Toolkits.

It is hoped that this tool will assist in clarifying the progression of events associated with the CRPD and, in conjunction with the Ratification and Implementation Toolkits, provide an additional resource to guide those promoting a rights-based approach to improving the lives of persons with disabilities through application of the CRPD.
